That is not a slogan, and we can show what holds it up. Nine tables and no more. A closing time of one, kept. No credit in the room at all. No cash machine in the building or on the plot. The bar at the end of the room stops serving before the tables stop, every night, which is the opposite of how it is usually arranged.

Age and the document

19 and over, checked at the door every time you come through it, including the time you came through it forty minutes ago. A picture on a phone is not a document. This is the same rule written on the gaming page and it is written twice because people read one page or the other, not both.

What the staff will do, on the spot

• Hold the limit you named, and say so if you ask them to raise it
• Tell you the time the moment you ask, without finishing anything
• Hold your seat for twenty minutes if you want to go and eat
• Keep you out for a few days if you ask them to
• Write a full stop at the desk, in person, effective that evening

None of that is on this website, and the absence is deliberate. Every one of those is a conversation with somebody who can see your face, and that is the only form in which they work.

Five things worth noticing in yourself

• You are thinking about the back room while standing on the pine avenue you drove four hours to walk
• You have started eating dinner quickly, or skipping it
• You know exactly how much is in your pocket to the dollar, and you did not know that on Tuesday
• You would rather the person at the door did not recognise you
• You have begun to plan the next visit around which evenings the room is open

How the staff are taught

Everyone who works the floor spends an evening on the door first, because the door is where you learn to say a flat no to a pleasant person. After that they work the room with somebody who has done it for a season. Nobody is left alone on a Saturday in their first month.

Asking

At the table, to anybody working it. At the door. Or at the desk in the hall, where it is quieter and where the person on duty has a pen. You do not need a particular form of words and you will not be asked why.
