Taken on ordinary days

Photographs of the house

Nothing here was staged and nothing was taken in weather we don't usually get.

Most hotel photographs are taken once, in June, by somebody who moves the furniture first. These were taken across two years by the people who work here, which is why the light is often flat and why there is sometimes a cup in shot.

Four walkers on the gravel track where it climbs away from the inlet
Rope walk strung between two second-growth firs behind the house
The deck on the sheltered side of the house
The covered pool in the old wing, lit from the long windows
Bottles on the shelf cut into the stone wall
Attic room under painted boards, window facing the trees
The long room, windows on the yard side
The pine avenue on the way to the headland, wet after rain

What is missing

There is no photograph of the house from the water, because the trees have grown in and you can no longer see it from there. There is one from 1968 in the hall that shows the whole frontage. We have not put it on the site because the scan is poor and the frame has glass in it.

Play happens in one room of this building and nowhere else. No bets are taken online, no accounts are held, and no money moves through this site.
