One sitting, seven o'clock

The kitchen

One menu a night, cooked once. If you want a choice, the harbour is nine minutes away and we'll tell you which places are open.

The kitchen cooks for the house, not for the road. There is one sitting at seven and one thing on it, which changes when the boats change what they bring in and when the garden gives out. We write it on the slate by the stairs in the morning, so you know by breakfast what dinner is.

The counter at four, before the kitchen opens

How it works

Tell the desk by three if you're eating. We cook the number we're told, which is why we ask, and why we can't usually add two more at half past six. The dining room holds twenty-four at the long table and six at the two small ones by the window.

  • One sitting, seven o'clock, every night the house is open
  • Tell the desk by three
  • Breakfast from half past seven, no sitting, come when you wake
  • Anything you can't eat, say so when you tell us you're coming

The garden

There is a vegetable patch behind the drying room that does well with brassicas and badly with everything else. It gives us about six weeks of real use in late summer. The rest of the year it looks like a muddy argument and we leave it alone.
